The Magic of Music at Mariposa Care Homes

19/03/2025

At Mariposa Care, we believe that exceptional care starts with a deep understanding of our residents’ interests and preferences, and this extends far beyond their personal healthcare needs. That’s why we offer a diverse range of creative outlets that enable residents to explore and nurture their personal interests, allowing them to live their best possible lives with us.

Music plays a big part in daily life within our homes, not only as a source of entertainment but also to evoke cherished memories, boost cognitive function and improve emotional wellbeing. Whether through group sing-alongs, personalised playlists, live performances or soothing instrumentals, music creates joyful experiences that help bring our care home communities together.

Fun with Music

Working closely with residents and their families, we plan engaging music activities that cater to different tastes and genres. Each session is crafted with care, ensuring a variety of musical experiences. For instance, during a relaxing hand massage, the gentle and calming sounds of the ocean create a serene atmosphere, promoting peace and relaxation.

In contrast, livelier sessions might include musical instruments like maracas, encouraging active participation and joy. Every session is an opportunity for enrichment, not just for the participants but also for their families, who often join in the fun.

A Sense of Belonging

Music also creates shared experiences for residents, families, carers, and visitors – promoting connections and building friendships. We host live performances, from Elvis impersonators to modern acoustic acts, allowing residents to sing and dance along whilst enjoying time together.

Through these thoughtful and well-planned sessions, we witness the transformative power of music, enhancing the quality of life for our residents and creating cherished moments for their families.

Looking ahead, Mariposa Care is committed to expanding our musical offerings to enhance resident well-being, using it’s harmony to create communities where everyone feels valued, heard, and at home.
